Tree Lighting in Rockefeller Center

Tree Lighting in Rockefeller Center

I have been a New Yorker my whole life and one of the special things about New York City is the holiday season...especially in "The Center of The Center of New York" also known as Rockefeller Center. Many of you know that I started my career at "30 Rock" home of NBC and that part of the city has a special place in my heart for so many reasons, not to mention the fact one of my offices is in Rockfeller Center (you know, the Starbucks on the lower level of 30 Rockefeller Plaza).

Anyway, special things happen in this unique "city within a city" and the tip of the iceberg is the tree...this year celebrating it's 75th anniversary. While I would avoid the area the night they actually light the tree (you get a better view on Channel 4), you have to make at least one trip in person. The tree, the lights, the interesting stores and of course the windows and incredible light show across the street at "Saks Fifth Avenue"

I ran into a young woman from Germany the other day and we were talking about NYC and Rockefeller Center during the holidays. She said this is her first time in NYC and only knew about it from pictures. Forget the pictures...make a pilgrimage!

Happy Holidays!
